The Dirt Track at Genesee Wraps Up 2025 Season With Champions Crowned

Batavia, NY – James and Nicole Gayton completed their first season as track promoters at The Dirt Track at Genesee in 2025. Over the course of 14 weekly races, fans witnessed plenty of action, with former champions reclaiming their top spots and new faces earning championships for the first time.

In the Callahan Towing RUSH Late Models, Corfu’s Dave Dubois captured his third straight division championship after putting together another stellar season. Dubois picked up three feature wins on May 10th, May 26th, and June 28th, while also collecting seven top-three finishes and five heat race wins. “I can’t say enough about my crew and what they do to help keep this car running,” Dubois said following the championship. Finishing second in points in his 38th year of racing was Warsaw’s Doug Ricotta, who recorded seven top-three finishes and three heat wins. Rounding out the top three was Springville’s Paul Grigsby, who scored a feature win on June 7th and added 10 top-five finishes to his season.

The Kolb Family Automotive Sportsman Modified Championship was won by Elba’s Phil Vigneri III, who went back-to-back after also winning the title in 2024. It marked his third championship in the division. Vigneri put together an impressive season that included six feature wins, nine top-three finishes, and six heat wins. “It’s a dream come true, really. I grew up watching racing here, and to have three championships now, it’s almost surreal. I grew up watching guys like Brian Sage, my dad (Phil Vigneri II), and Jim Johnson. To be creeping up on them and being in the same conversation is really humbling,” Vigneri said. Coming home second was Oakfield’s Ricky Newton, who scored a feature win on May 26th, seven top-threes, and a class-best seven heat wins. Warsaw’s Ray Bliss rounded out the top three with 10 top-five finishes and four heat race wins.

In the Conte’s Auto Street Stocks, Oakfield’s Josh Pangrazio returned to the top, earning his third championship in the division and his first since 2019. Pangrazio’s season included a class-best six feature wins, 10 top-three finishes, and six heat race wins. “Every win was special. It was good to be back, be competitive, and have fun,” Pangrazio said. LeRoy’s Byron DeWitt finished second with three feature wins, a class-best 11 top-threes, and a class-best seven heat wins. Pavilion’s Damian Long finished third in points, tallying eight top-five finishes and one heat race win.

The Weis Performance Mini Stock Championship came down to the wire, with five drivers having a shot at the title entering championship night. In the end, it was Avon’s Robert Knapp II who defended his 2024 title and made it back-to-back championships in 2025. Knapp scored a class-best four feature wins, nine top-three finishes, and five heat wins, overcoming a rough stretch late in the season. “We ran the same motor that we ran last year. Unfortunately, that went up in a fireball four weeks ago. Then we built another one, and that melted the piston down. Then Joey Swick actually let me use his motor to finish out the season,” Knapp said. Emotional after the win, he added, “This one really means a lot to me, it really does.” Finishing second was Castile’s Seth Johnson, who won during the fair show on July 22nd, collected seven top-three finishes, and five heat wins. Rochester’s Racelyn Lippa finished third after earning her first career feature win on August 16th, while also adding eight top-five finishes and four heat wins.

In the Blue Diamond Racing Products Novice Sportsman division, Holley’s Matt Radzio captured his first-ever championship after winning features on June 7th and June 28th, along with six top-three finishes and a heat race win. Oakfield’s Lucas Newton finished second, earning his first career win at the track on August 16th and adding five top-three finishes and a heat win. Ransomville’s Cole Susice rounded out the top three after winning on opening night and posting four top-threes with two heat wins.

Oakfield’s Carson Shetler was crowned champion of the Radiators Plus 63 Bandits division after scoring three feature wins on June 7th, August 2nd, and August 23rd. “I learned a lot this season—this is the hardest I’ve ever driven a car,” Shetler said after his title run. Castile’s Bradley Weis finished second in points after tallying four wins on May 10th, May 26th, June 28th, and August 16th.

The Dirt Track at Genesee management team thanked the fans, drivers, and staff for their support during the 2025 season. “The support was unbelievable. To the drivers that supported us week in and week out and stuck with us—thank you! To our entire staff, none of this is possible without you. You are the hardest working team out there and we thank you for that.”

The season is not completely finished, however, as The Dirt Track at Genesee will host SmashTober on October 18th at 3:00 p.m. The event will feature a 100-lap enduro paying $1,500 to the winner, $500 for second, and $250 for third. A demolition derby is also on tap, paying $1,000 to the winner and $500 to second in every class. Classes include Modified V8, Trucks, Junk Run, Modified Compact, and Bone Stock Compact.
