New Season, New Thrills: Dirt Track at Genesee Reveals 2025 Schedule with Double Points Nights, Hot Laps, and Handicap Rule Changes
Batavia, NY - The Dirt Track at Genesee is gearing up for an exciting 2025 season, with a packed schedule featuring new events, returning favorites, and changes to the format.
This year's highlights include the Mid Season Championship on June 28th and Championship Night on August 30th, both offering double points and feature lineups determined by points. Heat races will still be held, with heat points awarded, but feature lineups will be set by points only.
In a nod to tradition, management has reinstated an old handicap rule, where the previous week's winner cannot start in the top half of the redraw. For example, if there are nine drivers in the redraw, the best starting position for the previous week's winner would be fifth. If there are 12 drivers, the best starting position would be seventh.
New for 2025, hot laps will take place every week, with drivers' meetings held 30 minutes prior to the scheduled event and hot laps 15 minutes prior. The National Anthem and heat races will follow.
The feature events calendar is filled with exciting matchups, including the return of the Super Late Models on July 3rd, sanctioned by ULMS, and accompanied by a fireworks show. The Big Block Small Block Challenge and Kyle Inman Tribute race will take place on August 7th.
Fans can also look forward to the Empire Street Stocks' visit on June 19th, which promises intense racing and high car counts. The Gene DeWitt Memorial will be held on August 30th, and the Mackenzie Kulesza Memorial race will return to the track in 2025.
The Vintage Club will make two appearances, on June 14th and August 2nd, showcasing classic modifieds from the 1970s, 1980s, and 1990s.
Drivers and fans are reminded to check the website for schedule updates, as three events (May 3rd, June 14th, and August 23rd) have been pushed back one hour due to horse shows.
The Novice Sportsman and Bandit Mini Stocks will not compete on weekday events, but drivers from these divisions are permitted to participate in the Sportsman and Mini Stock divisions, respectively. However, when their regular division returns to competition, they must revert to their original class or remain in the higher division.
Finally, the Racers for Life car show will take place on Saturday, April 12th, at BW's Restaurant & Banquet facility. Gail DeWitt has graciously organized this event, which will feature an awards ceremony to honor last year's drivers and recognize their achievements. Fans are encouraged to attend and show their support for these talented drivers.
